API Firewall to Protect Microservices

42Crunch brings agility and scale to API Threat Protection

APIs require agility in security. As hundreds of APIs are released every week or even every day, and with a new set of threats to protect APIs from, traditional application security approaches, like web application firewall (WAF), are no longer an option. 42Crunch bridges the gap between API development, security, and operations teams with a simple, automated platform that provides API threat protection early in the API lifecycle. Unlike other solutions on the market, 42Crunch Platform lets developers initiate security already during design time.

Benefits

42Crunch platform delivers security across the entire API lifecycle:

  • Design/Development time: Get instant visibility into the current state of your API security through the security audit of your API contracts. The audit score and detailed report helps developers learn about and take into account various API threats and strengthen their API contracts.
  • Testing: Discover potential vulnerabilities and discrepancies in the API implementation that do not match the API contract.
  • Deployment: Automatically configure and deploy a lightweight, high-performance API Firewall in front your APIs. The firewall enforces the constraints in your API contracts, following a positive security model, and can be used in combination with a service mesh to protect your East-West traffic.

Getting Started

  1. Sign up at https://platform.42crunch.com/register.
  2. Import your API contracts. This task can also be automated through CI/CD integration.
  3. Follow the remediation suggestions in the audit reports from Security Audit to maximize the audit score, security and quality of your APIs.
  4. Enable threat protection for the API. Use our step-by-step guides for different containers orchestrators to deploy API Firewall as a sidecar proxy for your APIs deployed in container orchestrators such as Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
