I am a complete newbie to docker plus I am using it as an installed package on my Synology NAS.

They provide a GUI for configuration and there was no easy way to figure out how to do this. I did manage to do so after working through the command line parameter descriptions and experimenting with them from the shell. I now have it working, thanks.

Oh, and also thanks for the packaging. I have been running a chroot debian image with calibre inside it for a few years, but using docker seems much easier.

I am not sure that I understand exactly what you are requesting. You can already specify "--user" and "--password" on the command line when running the image by specifying the full command yourself. Are you suggesting that I use a start script instead that can be configured using environment variables? Why exactly?

Could you perhaps add environment variables to be able to specify the --user and --password options to calibre-server in CMD?
