Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS with MariaDB 10.0.18 stable, vim, htop
After pulling it you can run the container as follows:
docker run -p 127.0.0.1:3306:3306 -v /shared/var/lib/mysql/:/var/lib/mysql -v /shared/var/log/mysql:/var/log/mysql -d edwardjrp/mariadb10.0.18:v1 mysqld
Make sure to create a shared volume on your host machine, this way you will have the data a logs out of the container. In the above example of running the container the folders /shared/var/lib and /shared/var/log both exist on the host machine.
If something goes wrong just run the container and get a shell as follows:
docker run -it -p 127.0.0.1:3306:3306 -v /shared/var/lib/mysql/:/var/lib/mysql -v /shared/var/log/mysql:/var/log/mysql edwardjrp/mariadb10.0.18:v1 bash
This way you can then run mysq_install_db to install a fresh mariadb mysql. Remember to check the mounted folder permission prior to run the mysql_install_db command both /var/log/mysql and /var/lib/mysql must have mysql as user and group if not the installation will fail.
