A Dockerized installation of Ansible, starting from an Alpine base.

Using the Docker host network stack

If you want to use the network stack of the Docker host to let containers based on these images talk with nodes on the local network
without the need of additional configuration, you can enable the --net=host switch when starting the container as described above.

Example:

docker run -it --rm --net=host ferrarimarco/open-development-environment-ansible:devel-alpine-<image-version> /bin/ash

Image Variants

devel-alpine-<image-version>

This image starts from an Alpine Linux base with the latest Ansible development version installed from source.

Note that there are the devel-alpine-development and devel-alpine-master that point to the corresponding Git branches.

How to Run

You can run this image with the following command, where <image-version> is the version of this image:

docker run -it --rm ferrarimarco/open-development-environment-ansible:devel-alpine-<image-version>

Then you can run Ansible from the shell.

Ansible Update

Ansible will be updated to the latest version when you first start a container based on this image.

pip-alpine-<image-version>

This image starts from an Alpine Linux base with the latest Ansible version installed from pip.

Note that there are the pip-alpine-development and pip-alpine-master that point to the corresponding Git branches.

How to Run

You can run this image with the following command, where <image-version> is the version of this image:

docker run -it --rm ferrarimarco/open-development-environment-ansible:devel-alpine-<image-version> /bin/ash

Then you can run Ansible from the shell.
