This repository holds a docker image of openvas. This is built upon ubuntu:trusty

Openvas is setup as a docker image. After pulling this image, run
1.docker run -it openvas -p 8001:443 /bin/bash to map port 443 of docker container to 8001 of localhost and to enter bash.

  1. You can check status of every service using service <service_name> status. eg: service
    openas-scanner status.

To update and sync databases use commands below in the given order

sudo openvas-nvt-sync
sudo openvas-scapdata-sync
sudo openvas-certdata-sync

sudo service openvas-scanner restart
sudo service openvas-manager restart
sudo openvasmd --rebuild --progress

To run gsad on port 443 of docker container in http (insecure) mode:
gsad --http-only listen=127.0.0.1 -p 443

Now Openvas can be accessed on port 8001 of localhost

http://localhost:8001
