NICAR Dev Environment
This docker image contains everything you need to setup the dev environment for this year's NICAR conference. It includes:
- Uses the latest Ubuntu distribution.
- Python 2.7 and PIP
- Node.JS and NPM
- Grunt, Bower
- Apache HTTP Server
- PHP 5
- Ruby, Rails, RBENV
- MySQL, Postgres, PostGIS, SQLite
- R, PANDAS
The NICAR dev environment is quick to get up and and running in a Docker container.
Simply follow these three easy steps:
- Download and install the Docker Toolbox.
- Run the installed Docker Quickstart Terminal.
Run the following command in the terminal:
docker run -t -i jerwallace/nicar-dev-env /bin/bash
This command will download the latest nicar-dev-env image to your local machine. It is about 600 MB compressed, 1.7 GB once running. Then, it will run the /bin/bash process as a VM in the open shell.
