Short Description
SIMH binaries, ready to run
Full Description

Containerized SIMH binaries

Image content

This image contains all the simulators currently available as part of the SIMH project Refer to the SIMH homepage (http://simh.trailing-edge.com) for more information about that project, its goals, and tips about how to run the simulators.

The image is based in the Alpine Linux distribution, which is built around busybox. It contains the components needed to run the simulators, including the networking libraries (libpcap) and utilities (vde2).

WARNING This is not an official part of the simh project. I offer this image, and the others based on it, "as is", without no commitment to keep supporting it in the future (as though I will try my best). If you find a bug, please do not report it to the official simh mantainers unless you can reproduce it in a "non containerized" environment. If you suspect the bug is related to the containerization, please open an issue in the specific github project, git://github.com/jguillaumes/dockersimh.

Usage

The image simply contains the executables, without OS images nor configuration files. You must provide your OS images and configurations. Refer to the jguillaumes/simh-vax for an image with two example configuration files, or jguillaumes/simh-vaxbsd and jguillaumes/simh-pdpbsd for ready to run configurations.

Exposed ports

It exposes the 2323/TCP port, which can be used to attach the simulated terminal multiplexors and log on into the simulated machines from the Docker host or the network.

Volumes

You can mount any directory over the /machines volume. You can run in this way simulated machines present at your host filesystem
