This image ingests Docker container log files under /var/lib/docker/containers/… into an instance of Elasticsearch which is assumed to be running on the host machine on port 9200. When using Kubernetes this instance may actually be running on a different machine and just appear to be running locally. This image is designed to be invoked by a manifest used during the turn-up of a Kubernetes cluster and is not intended to be used directly.

Is this repo still alive ?
Looking for recent image with td-agent updated for taking care of millisecond in docker logs (td-agent > 0.14)
There's a typo in the td-agent baked into this agent (/varlog -> /var/log). I recommend using the one at gcr.io/google_containers/fluentd-elasticsearch:1.11 more (backed by the dockerfile here: https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/tree/master/cluster/addons/fluentd-elasticsearch/fluentd-es-image)
Can we have better docs how to deploy this as a pod?
