Nagios XI is the enterprise offering from Nagios.
This came about for a blog I was writing on how to monitor docker using Nagios XI (http://blog.orb-data.com/how-to-monitor-docker/)
It's a dirty little build, I had issues on CentOS 7 and systemctl, kept getting an error:
"Failed to get D-Bus connection: Operation not permitted"
I tried a bunch of suggestions but really nothing worked with the XI install script, so I ran this as a privileged container to get around it.
To start Nagios XI, just run:
docker run --privileged -d -p 80:80 -p 443:443 logix88/nagiosxi /usr/sbin/init
Visiting your host on port 80 will expose the first start page and just go with the flow from there...
One thing to note that there is a 'free' option for Nagios XI for up to 7 hosts... just in case you just want to try it out longer than the 60 day trial.
Nagios XI now exposes an API which makes Nagios a lot more fun, I know there have been some noddy APIs in the past but this is officially from Nagios and so it's supported, which makes it useful for enterprise adoption. You can read more about how I used it to monitor docker in my blog.
