@paulbsch
You need to use nvidia-docker with these images, /usr/local/nvidia is where the driverfiles are mounted.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH doesn't seem to match where things are installed:

$ docker run --rm -it nvidia/cuda:8.0-cudnn6-devel-ubuntu14.04 env
PATH=/usr/local/nvidia/bin:/usr/local/cuda/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin
HOSTNAME=36217d6d8a2e
TERM=xterm
CUDA_VERSION=8.0.61
CUDA_PKG_VERSION=8-0=8.0.61-1
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/nvidia/lib:/usr/local/nvidia/lib64
LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/cuda/lib64/stubs:
CUDNN_VERSION=6.0.21
HOME=/root

$ docker run --rm -it nvidia/cuda:8.0-cudnn6-devel-ubuntu14.04 ls /usr/local
bin cuda cuda-8.0 etc games include lib man sbin share src

There is an interesting question from "exilis" from 6 months ago that have no answer.

Is it possible to use nvidia images as root for other images and push them to Dockerhub? Or the license does not allow this?

Thanks

Oh, poo. Thanks.

@injeans - afaik neither virtualbox nor xhyve provide PCI pass through functionality, therefore the GPU is not accessible in those architectures ( based on these https://github.com/mist64/xhyve/issues/108
https://github.com/NVIDIA/nvidia-docker/issues/43
)

I wonder, now that there are native docker applications for Windows and Mac OSX are there any plans to provide images for these architectures?

@perfectweb: actually, they are here, try a "docker pull".

DockerHub simply has a limit on the number of tags it's showing. The 16.04 images were no rebuilt recently so they are hidden by more recent images.

i see there is a docker file for ubuntu 16.04, why there is no tag ?

Is it allowed to push a new docker image to the dockerhub which is based on one of these base images? I'm wondering if some restricted files such as cuda-toolkit and cuDNN may cause licensing issues on re-distribution.
