Short Description
Scribus container
Full Description

This image creates an Ubuntu based container with Scribus installed. I use it on my MBP (with Boot2Docker and Quartz X11) in combination with socat.

Set this once: socat TCP-LISTEN:6000,reuseaddr,fork UNIX-CLIENT:\“$DISPLAY\”
The GUI is redirected to your local X11 and the application starts without the need of installing java etc..

After this you can use the image like this: docker run -e DISPLAY=192.168.59.3:0 oscarp/scribus /usr/bin/scribus
Once the container is created I rename it to scribus:
docker rename <your container> scribus

After this I start my container from the desktop by clicking an executable script containing:

socat TCP-LISTEN:6000,reuseaddr,fork UNIX-CLIENT:\"$DISPLAY\" &
export DOCKER_HOST=tcp://192.168.59.103:2376
export DOCKER_CERT_PATH=/Users/oscarp/.boot2docker/certs/boot2docker-vm
export DOCKER_TLS_VERIFY=1
boot2docker shellinit
docker start scribus
