This image provides tooling for managing AWS EBS Snapshots.

Snapshot management provided by automated-ebs-snapshots

Environment Variables

When you start the ebs-snapshots image, you can adjust the configuration of the
script by passing environment variables on the docker run command-line, environment
file or via your docker-compose manifest file.

EBS_VOLUMES

Required

A semicolon separate list of Volume IDs or the Name tag of volume.

EBS_SNAPSHOT_INTERVAL

Optional Default: daily

Specify how frequently to snapshot the configured volumes

  • Options: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly

EBS_SNAPSHOT_RETENTION

Optional Default: 30

Specify the number of snapshots to keep.

AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID / AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY / AWS_REGION

Optional

The AWS Credentials for accessing the snapshot service. If no credentials are set
then it will attempt to use Instance Metadata. See Instance Profiles for information
on how to configure IAM Roles/Policies for your EC2 Instances.∏
