Datomic Pro Starter
This Dockerfile defines a base image
for Datomic Pro Starter Edition. It defines
the necessary automation steps for running Datomic, while deferring
all privileged, user-specific configuration to a derived image via
This approach makes it trivial to customize your own Dockerfile to run
any supported Datomic configuration. To do so, you need only to follow
- Create a
Dockerfilethat is based FROM this image
- Create a
.credentialsfile containing your http user and password
for downloading from my.datomic.com in the form
- Create a
configfolder where your
Dockerfileresides and place
your Datomic transactor.properties config file(s) within it
- Add a CMD instruction in your
Dockerfilewith the relative
path to that file e.g. config/riak.properties
No other configuration is necessary. Simply docker build and
docker run your image.

@christianromney, I meant to convince Cognitect to endorse this way of running the transactor.
Mention it in their documentation maybe?
I'm a bit unclear though how would it fit into their deployment picture with all those ensure-this-and-that cloudformation carnival.
(I was also surprised to see my comment here. I completely forgot about this docker image, since I'm still not using docker. Yet...)
Starting with 0.9.5530 Datomic Pro Starter has feature parity with Datomic Pro (all storages, memcached, HA), and now includes a Peer server.
@onetom, What did you have in mind in terms of making it an "official" image?
Any chance to promote it as an official image?
Has anything been done to do that?
(I'm just about to try it.
I was also very happy to find it, thanks for the effort!)
Just released 0.9.5390
Now running Datomic 0.9.5385 on official clojure:lein-2.6.1-alpine for a 50% image size reduction!
Version bump to latest Datomic 0.9.5359.
Good stuff, thanks!
Just upgraded to version 0.9.5344 which ships a fix for the broken console in 0.9.5327.
Glad you found it useful. We've just updated to JDK 8, Lein 2.5.3 and Datomic 0.9.5327. Give it a whirl.
