Full Description

This is an Ubuntu 12.04 image with SciDB 12.3 and Ipython installed.

There is a known issue with SELinux on Centos 6.5 and Ubuntu 12.04 Docker containers,

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/docker-user/7EyZthXHcww/B3YAV0XsxNAJ

If you are using an Ubuntu host go to "Configuration" below. If you are using Centos 6.5 you can work around this issue by first changing
the "other_args" line in /etc/sysconfig/docker to read

other_args="--exec-driver=lxc --selinux-enabled"

You now need to disable SELinux and restart the host

https://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/sec-sel-enable-disable.html

Go to /etc/sysconfig/selinux and disable selinux. Restart the host.

Configuration:

For R Configuration do the "SciDB and Ipython" configuration below and follow the instructions here

https://github.com/Paradigm4/SciDBR/wiki

use: scidbconnect("localhost",port=49903)

For built in AFL or AQL SciDB query language do the "SciDB and
Ipython" configuration below and then ssh in:

ssh -p 49901 scidb@localhost

and run "iquery" at command prompt

Configure SciDB and Ipython:

  1. Get the repo:

     sudo docker pull scott858/scidb_ubuntu12.04:ipython

  2. Start the container:

      sudo docker run -d -P --name="scidb1" -p 49901:49901 -p 49902:49902 -p 49903:49903 -p 49904:49904 -p 8888:8888 --expose=49902 --expose=49910 scott858/scidb_ubuntu12.04:ipython

  1. Initialize SciDB:

         ssh -p 49901 scidb@localhost

         ./initScidb.sh

          exit

  2. Point your browser at:

          http://localhost:8888

  3. In a new workbook test the db connection:

         [1] from scidbpy import connect

         [2] sdb = connect('localhost:49903')

         [3] sdb

--A successful connection will return something like:
                         scidbpy.interface.SciDBShimInterface at 0x7f75cae84b90
  1. Use it:

You can also login via ssh to use the SciDB query languages AFL or AQL.

Follow the directions here https://github.com/Paradigm4/SciDBR/wiki to configure the R interface.
