TeX Live is an easy way to get up and running with the TeX document production system. It provides a comprehensive TeX system with binaries for most flavors of Unix, including GNU/Linux, and also Windows. It includes all the major TeX-related programs, macro packages, and fonts that are free software, including support for many languages around the world.
This image provides a minimal TeX Live installation on a Debian environment. If not specified any command on
wnohang/texlive image execution (as specified in the following example), the pdfTeX shell will be executed.
docker run --rm --tty --interactive wnohang/texlive
This image can also be use in a standalone fashion the same way as if the environment was directly installed in the local machine. You just need to provide the path to the directory contained the source files to work with and the command to be executed. To avoid writting tons of commands, the following aliases may be handy:
alias latex='docker run --rm --tty --interactive --volume $PWD:/app wnohang/texlive latex' alias pdflatex='docker run --rm --tty --interactive --volume $PWD:/app wnohang pdflatex' alias bibtex='docker run --rm --tty --interactive --volume $PWD:/app wnohang/texlive bibtex' alias makeindex='docker run --rm --tty --interactive --volume $PWD:/app wnohang/texlive makeindex'
