This is a version of Frigate that won't instantly crash on ancient CPUs. Systems too old to support AVX will likely not handle CPU object detection on more than 1 or 2 cameras, so make sure to use a Coral.

This is not an officially supported deployment method. If you find issues or bugs with this image, don't bother the Frigate team about it. Test it on a supported system with the original image before making an issue.

Don't expect frequent updates. I can't guarantee that this image will always be on the latest Frigate version. I only mess with it when my personal deployment breaks or a new feature makes me want to upgrade. To stay on the latest version, build your own oldcpu image.

Issues I've found:

• Sometimes the RAM usage will randomly explode. I've seen a few Github issues from normal Frigate deployments about this, but I'll assume it's a quirk of running the software on unsupported hardware
  • Mitigation: I deployed my Frigate as a Docker Swarm stack with RAM limits. Using Swarm like this guarantees the container will restart if Frigate freezes or leaks memory.
