Free Pascal compiler - open source Pascal compiler
1.1K
If you have legacy Pascal code or want to explore computer history, check out Free Pascal. Developed in the 70s and 80s, this language was traditionally taught as a first programming language in many university courses during the 80s and 90s. Free Pascal is a mature, versatile, open-source compiler for Pascal and Object Pascal.
Prepare your Pascal code. For example, here's a simple "Hello, World!" program:
program helloWorld(output);
begin
writeLn('Hello, World!')
end.
Let's create a pas_code/ directory to hold a Pascal project. Save the code above in a file named pas_code/helloworld.pas.
pas_code/ mapped to /home/devf:
docker pull 200ms/fpc_devf
docker run -it -v pas_code:/home/devf 200ms/fpc_devf bash
fpc helloworld.pas
./helloworld
Enjoy and have fun exploring Pascal!
