2idockerhub/newman-linux repository overview

Intended use: For running Postman tests on any Linux ARM system (e.g. Raspbery Pi)

Prerequisites:
  • Docker
  • Postman collection (link or json file)
  • (as required) Postman environment

This linux/arm/v7 build of newman will allow you to run postman tests from the command line in a very similar manner to the documentation here: https://learning.postman.com/docs/running-collections/using-newman-cli/command-line-integration-with-newman/

Specific commands for running:

  • Collection(by link) only: "docker run 2idockerhub/newman-linux run YOUR_COLLECTION_LINK"
    • e.g.

docker run 2idockerhub/newman-linux run https://www.getpostman.com/collections/2a3f2599393d6fb2fd38

  • Collection(by file) only: "docker run -v YOUR_FILE_PATH_TO_YOUR_COLLECTION_FILE:etc/newman 2idockerhub/newman-linux run YOUR_COLLECTION_FILE.json"
    • e.g.

docker run -v C:\Users\tstark\Documents\countries_api:/etc/newman 2idockerhub/newman-linux run countries_collection.json

To include environments ensure that if using files for collection and environment, that they are both in the same directory, otherwise the environment can be in any chosen directory:

  • Collection and environment(both by file): "docker run -v YOUR_FILE_PATH_TO_YOUR_COLLECTION_FILE:etc/newman 2idockerhub/newman-linux run YOUR_COLLECTION_FILE.json -e YOUR_ENV.json"
    • e.g.

docker run -v C:\Users\tstark\Documents\countries_api:/etc/newman 2idockerhub/newman-linux run countries_collection.json -e countries_environment.json

  • Collection(by link) and environment(by file): "docker run -v YOUR_FILE_PATH_TO_YOUR_ENVIRONMENT_FILE:etc/newman 2idockerhub/newman-linux run YOUR_COLLECTION_LINK -e YOUR_ENV.json"
    • e.g.
   -e countries_environment.json```
