The base images contain a JDK version compatible with some or all of the 6.x AEM versions. They do not contain AEM, and require a bind mount that contains the following:
Run the following command to run a base image:
docker run [-p 4502:<port> | -p 4503:<port>] [-v <path/to/aem>:/opt/aem] aemcloud/base:<version-tag>
Every new container will be a new install of AEM with no existing content. To persist the content, a volume can be mounted from the host into the container that has the following:
The path on the host can be any directory that has the license file and crx-quickstart directory, but the mount location in the container must be /opt/aem.
docker run --rm \
--volume ${HOME}/aem/:/opt/aem \
-p 4502:4502 \
aemcloud/base:jdk-8
The initial start of the container will put the correct files within the volume. Subsequent starts will use the contents of the volume.
Note. Ensure that the base image JDK version is compatible with the AEM version. E.g. using aemcloud/base:jdk-11 with an instance of AEM v6.4.2 will fail to start.
