k8s-debugkit

\n\nAll-in-one docker image for debugging on Kubernetes and Docker\n\n**Note: Insecure, only for debugging**\n\n\n# :soon: Use cases\n```sh\nkubectl create deploy --image=amaya382/k8s-debugkit debugkit\nkubectl expose --port=80 --type={type you need} deploy debugkit\n```\n\nor\n\n```sh\nkubectl apply -f k8s-debugkit.yaml # Default svc type: NodePort\n```\n\nAnd then, access to the debugkit via k8s Service, `kubectl port-forward`, or IP addr directly (Need specific env such as microk8s or telepresence)\n\n\n## (1) Want to know which global ip is used\n```\nwget http://{debugkit's ip addr}/info/ip\n```\n\n```json\n{\n \"globalIp\": \"XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX\",\n \"ip\": [\n \"1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000\",\n \" link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00\",\n \" inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo\",\n \" valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever\",\n \" inet6 ::1/128 scope host \",\n \" valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever\",\n \"3: eth0@if42: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP group default \",\n \" link/ether 92:8b:f7:b2:9f:df brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff link-netnsid 0\",\n \" inet 10.1.1.16/24 scope global eth0\",\n \" valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever\",\n \" inet6 fe80::908b:f7ff:feb2:9fdf/64 scope link \",\n \" valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever\"\n ]\n}\n```\nA global ip k8s environment uses by default is `XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX`\n\n\n## (2) Want to know which pod you're actually accessing (Good for accessing via a load balancer)\n```\nwget http://{debugkit's ip addr}/info/hostname\n```\n\n```json\n{\n \"hostname\": \"debugkit-798cb977b-zjvfz\"\n}\n```\nhostname means pod name on k8s\n\n\n## (3) Want to check if the default name server is working or not\n```\nwget http://{debugkit's ip addr}/exec/dig/google.com\n```\n\n```json\n{\n \"dig\": [\n \"; <<>> DiG 9.10.3-P4-Debian <<>> google.com\",\n \";; global options: +cmd\",\n \";; Got answer:\",\n \";; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 29948\",\n \";; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1\",\n \"\",\n \";; OPT PSEUDOSECTION:\",\n \"; EDNS: version: 0, flags:; udp: 512\",\n \";; QUESTION SECTION:\",\n \";google.com.\\t\\t\\tIN\\tA\",\n \"\",\n \";; ANSWER SECTION:\",\n \"google.com.\\t\\t185\\tIN\\tA\\t172.217.26.46\",\n \"\",\n \";; Query time: 40 msec\",\n \";; SERVER: 10.152.183.10#53(10.152.183.10)\",\n \";; WHEN: Mon May 06 07:42:12 UTC 2019\",\n \";; MSG SIZE rcvd: 55\"\n ],\n \"hostname\": {\n \"hostname\": \"debugkit-798cb977b-zjvfz\"\n }\n}\n```\nWorking! Succeeded in resolving `google.com`\n\n\n# :trident: Features\n## HTTP Server\nk8s-debugkit provides a HTTP server returning information and executing some commands from pod (container).\nYou can check a lot of pod information by using just HTTP GET.\n\n### Information\n#### `/info/all`\nGet all information\n\n#### `/info/commmon`\nGet common info based on request context\n\n#### `/info/hostname`\nGet hostname.\nhostname in container means container id or pod name on k8s.\n\n#### `/info/ip`\nGet local nic info and global ip\n\n#### `/info/cpu`\nGet the number of cpus\n\n#### `/info/mem`\nGet the amount of available memory\n\n#### `/info/hosts`\nGet `/etc/hosts`\n\n#### `/info/resolv`\nGet `/etc/resolv.conf`\n\n#### `/info/envs`\nGet all environmental values\n\n### Command execution\nYou can execute commands (from container!) via HTTP GET\n\n#### `/exec/ping/{dst}`\nping to dst\n\n#### `/exec/dig/{dst}`\nResolve name by default name server\n\n#### `/exec/traceroute/{dst}`\ntraceroute to dst\n\n#### `/exec/get/{dst}`\nExec a http get request to dst\n\n#### `/exec/ls/{path}`\nList files\n\n#### `/exec/cat/{path}`\nGet file contents\n\n#### `/exec/getenv/{name}`\nGet an environmental value by name\n\n#### `/exec/log/{msg}?{stderr}`\nPrint log to stdout. If set stderr, output to stderr.\n\n* `stderr`: Default `False`\n\n#### `/exec/explode?{signal}&{explode_after}`\nExplode the container by `signal` after `explode_after`\n\n* `signal`: Default `9`\n* `explode_after`: Default `5`\n\n#### `/exec/echo/`\necho POST data\n\n\n## CLI Tools\nYou can directly use the CLI tools below on container by `kubectl exec -it {pod_name} bash` or `docker exec -it {container_name} bash`\n\n* `kubectl`\n * You need pass auth info such as `.kube/config`. e.g. `kubectl cp ~/.kube/config {pod_name}:~/.kube/config`\n* `ping`\n* `curl`\n* `wget`\n* `dig`\n* `nslookup`\n* `traceroute`\n\n\n## Options\n* `K8S_DEBUGKIT_DISABLE_DEBUG_MODE`\n * If set, run in production mode\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_75":11,"_76":77},"enabled","rules",[78],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_82":21,"_83":11,"_84":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",1348705605,"orgData","recentTags",[91,129],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_50":118,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":122,"_123":124,"_125":109,"_126":118,"_127":65,"_128":21},"content_type","creator",415786,"full_size",492632806,"id",54567031,"images",[101],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":107,"_108":109,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":107,"_115":-5,"_116":96,"_63":65,"_117":-5},"architecture","amd64","digest","sha256:79526549428d97e9538e376fcb2748e694ec379401cffce283295d61704d366d","features","","last_pulled","2026-10-08T22:58:03.808101411Z","last_pushed","2019-05-18T15:07:00Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2019-05-18T15:07:00.019767Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",7074087,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2",{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":130,"_97":131,"_99":132,"_50":137,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":138,"_123":124,"_125":135,"_126":137,"_127":65,"_128":21},492632966,56157218,[133],{"_102":103,"_104":134,"_106":107,"_108":135,"_110":136,"_112":113,"_114":107,"_115":-5,"_116":130,"_63":65,"_117":-5},"sha256:4d3abf9ff22c2f9947b272f6e757ed0e75dd8d9def9bcdc7afa0c222e3a57eff","2026-10-08T22:58:01.814379077Z","2019-05-18T15:17:11Z","2019-05-18T15:17:10.787393Z","0.0.1","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_38":152,"_159":160,"_146":173,"_174":11},{"_40":153,"_42":154,"_45":46,"_47":48,"_49":11,"_50":51,"_52":53,"_54":155,"_57":35,"_32":33,"_58":59,"_60":44,"_61":62,"_63":62,"_64":65,"_66":-5,"_67":68,"_69":70,"_71":11,"_72":33,"_73":156,"_79":11,"_80":158,"_85":33,"_86":87},[],[44],[56],{"_75":11,"_76":157},[78],{"_82":21,"_83":11,"_84":11},"tags",{"_161":162,"_163":-5,"_164":-5,"_165":166},"count",2,"next","previous","results",[167,170],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":130,"_97":131,"_99":168,"_50":137,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":138,"_123":124,"_125":135,"_126":137,"_127":65,"_128":21},[169],{"_102":103,"_104":134,"_106":107,"_108":135,"_110":136,"_112":113,"_114":107,"_115":-5,"_116":130,"_63":65,"_117":-5},{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":171,"_50":118,"_119":94,"_120":33,"_121":56,"_57":122,"_123":124,"_125":109,"_126":118,"_127":65,"_128":21},[172],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":107,"_108":109,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":107,"_115":-5,"_116":96,"_63":65,"_117":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
