baristelmen/dust-standalone repository overview

Introduction

This container is created to use DUST Aerodynamic Solver on multiple x86-x64 systems. At the moment of testing, this container is working on both Linux and Windows systems.

Original project homepage can be found here: https://public.gitlab.polimi.it/DAER/dust

Supported architectures

We utilise the docker manifest for multi-platform awareness. More information is available from docker here and our announcement here.

Simply pulling baristelmen/dust-standalone:1.0 should retrieve the correct image for your arch, but you can also pull specific arch images via tags.

The architectures supported by this image are:

Application Setup

There is no GUI associated with this image. Therefore, we rely only on the terminal based access via docker exec or ssh into the container.

Data folders

We have set /home/boltzmann/data folder as optional path, this is because it is the easiest way to get started. We have copied the available example files into this location.

Usage

To help you get started creating a container from this image you can either use docker-compose or the docker cli.

version: '3.9'

services:
  dust-standalone:
    image: baristelmen/dust-standalone:1.0
    container_name: dust-standalone
    volumes:
      - /path/to/data:/home/boltzmann/data
    restart: unless-stopped
docker cli (click here for more info)
docker run -d \
  --name=dust-standalone\
  -v /path/to/data:/home/boltzmann/data \
  --restart unless-stopped \
 baristelmen/dust-standalone:1.0

Environment variables from files (Docker secrets)

You can set any environment variable from a file by using a special prepend FILE__.

As an example:

-e FILE__MYVAR=/run/secrets/mysecretvariable

Will set the environment variable MYVAR based on the contents of the /run/secrets/mysecretvariable file.

Support Info

Shell access whilst the container is running:

docker exec -it radarr /bin/bash

To monitor the logs of the container in realtime:

docker logs -f dust-standalone

Container version number:

docker inspect -f '{{ index .Config.Labels "APP_VERSION" }}' radarr

Image version number:

docker inspect -f '{{ index .Config.Labels "APP_VERSION" }}' lscr.io/linuxserver/radarr:latest

Updating Info

This is a static image, versioned, and require an image update and container recreation to update the app inside. With some exceptions (noted in the relevant readme.md), we do not recommend or support updating apps inside the container. Please consult the Application Setup section above to see if it is recommended for the image.

Our recommended way is as follows,

  • docker stop dust-standalone
  • docker rmi dust-alone
  • docker image prune -a
  • docker pull baristelmen/dust-standalone:<version tag>

Versions

  • 18/03/2024 - First upload of DUST with a version of 0.8.2-b
