beanworks/aws-tools repository overview

Beanworks AWS Tools

This is a Docker image that contains the AWS CLI and some handy scripts for working with Beanworks' AWS infrastructure.

Usage

1. Install Docker

I'm not going to tell you how, read the official documentation.

2. Gather Your Credentials

You will need to know the following pieces of information:

  • Your Access Key (e.g. AKIAIOSFODNN7EXAMPLE)
  • Your Secret Access Key (e.g. wJalrXUtnFEMI/K7MDENG/bPxRfiCYEXAMPLEKEY)
  • Your MFA Serial (e.g. arn:aws:iam::167261844030:mfa/example)

You can find this information by clicking on yourself in AWS Console → IAM → Users.

3. Run the image

Run the below commands in your shell, using substituting your credentials for the environment variables.

docker pull beanworks/aws-tools
docker run \
	--env AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID="AKIA****************" \
	--env AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY="****************************************" \
	--env AWS_MFA_SERIAL=arn:aws:iam::************:mfa/**** \
	--rm -it beanworks/aws-tools
4. Security!

Don't keep your keys laying around, okay! Don't keep them unencrypted on your laptop or something stupid like that.
