⁠API

The API module is implemented as a RESTful HTTP JSON API, which is used by the Web App module. To run the API locally you first need to make sure you run DynamoDB⁠, then just run the API using npm start (you may also need to run npm install in all npm projects we have, or just run ./full-test.sh) from within the backend directory.

⁠Web App

The web app is a a set of static HTML and JS files. Basicly, it is a web 2.0 app, which is mostly based on ReactJS and Bootstrap. To run the web app, just execute npm start.

⁠Technologies, Patterns and Philosophy

⁠Domain Driven Development

The architecture of the code is inspired by DDD, mostly by [Vaughn Vernon] (https://vaughnvernon.co⁠).

Domain Models are clearly separated and integrated at the Application Layer.

Examples:

• Security Domain Model handles authentication and authorization for the application.
• Binary Domain Model models a sub domain for working with files. Needed for storing and downloading images of users. Note that the domain is separated from the previous one, since working with images is not a domain operation of the Security Domain Model.
• Teams Domain Model is the main domain model, handles everything related to organizations, teams and team members.

⁠Functional Programming

Almost everything is immutable. Yup, every domain object is immutable.

⁠Building and Deployment

The web app is deployed to S3 as simple static files. The backend is deployed as AWS Lambda.
