Overview

SELISE Blocks Release is the release and deployment management service for the SELISE Blocks platform. It provides the backend capabilities required to manage application releases, deployment processes, release configurations, and related platform operations.

The service integrates with other SELISE Blocks platform components and supporting infrastructure to provide a centralized mechanism for managing application releases and deployments.

Image Purpose

The Docker image:

blocksos/prod-blocks-release:tagname

contains the production build of the Blocks Release application and is intended to be used as the runtime image for deploying the Blocks Release service.

The image provides the application runtime required for:

  • Release management
  • Application release processing
  • Deployment management
  • Release configuration
  • Release lifecycle operations
  • REST APIs
  • Integration with Blocks platform services
  • Background processing where required

Technology Stack

Backend
  • ASP.NET Core
  • .NET
  • C#
  • REST APIs
  • Application and domain services
Supporting Components
  • SELISE Blocks platform services
  • Deployment integrations
  • Repository and source-control integrations
  • Database integrations
  • Message-based integrations
  • Configuration and secret management

Application Architecture

Blocks Release is designed as a release and deployment management service that integrates with the SELISE Blocks ecosystem:

Container Port

The application exposes its configured API/service port through the container.

For production deployments, the container port should be mapped according to the environment-specific configuration and Kubernetes Service definition.

Example Docker run command:

docker run -d \
  --name blocks-release \
  -p 5000:5000 \
  blocksos/prod-blocks-release:tagname

Pull the Image

docker pull blocksos/prod-blocks-release:tagname

Kubernetes Deployment

The image can be deployed to Kubernetes using the following container configuration:

containers:
  - name: blocks-release
    image: blocksos/prod-blocks-release:tagname
    ports:
      - containerPort: 5000

The application can then be exposed through a Kubernetes Service and Ingress or an external application gateway.

Image Naming

The Docker image follows the standard Docker image naming convention:

<organization>/<repository>:<tag>

For Blocks Release:

ComponentValue
RegistryDocker Hub
Organizationblocksos
Repositoryprod-blocks-release
Tagtagname
Full Imageblocksos/prod-blocks-release:tagname

Runtime Dependencies

The Blocks Release container provides the application runtime. External infrastructure and supporting services are deployed separately according to the target environment.

Depending on the deployment configuration, Blocks Release may communicate with external services such as:

  • Databases
  • Message queues
  • Source-control repositories
  • CI/CD services
  • Deployment services
  • SELISE Blocks platform services
  • Authentication and IAM services
  • Configuration and secret management services
  • Logging services
  • Monitoring services
  • Other application services

These dependencies are not bundled into the application container.

Production Deployment

The image is intended for production deployment environments where the container can be managed using Docker, Kubernetes, or another container orchestration platform.

A typical production setup consists of:

                    Internet / Users
                           │
