⁠Nidus Vision

A self-hosted network video recorder (NVR) for RTSP cameras. It shows your cameras live, records them continuously to MP4, spots people in the footage, and lets you jump straight to the moments where someone appeared.

Everything runs in a single container. No cloud account, no subscription, no data leaving your network.

⁠What it does

• Live view – a grid of all your cameras with a recording timeline.
• Continuous recording – every camera is recorded around the clock as MP4 segments.
• Person detection – an ONNX model watches each stream and tags the segments where a person was present.
• Tagged playback – the Recordings page lists footage per camera and highlights the person-tagged segments so you can skip the empty hours.
• Retention that keeps the important bits – set separate day limits for general footage and person-tagged footage, plus an optional storage cap. When the cap is reached, untagged footage is removed first.
• Simple sign-in – a single admin password, set on your first visit.

Save this as docker-compose.yml in an empty folder:
