The winver is specified as a build argument. This is so you can build images for the various versions of Windows

docker build --build-arg winver=1709 -t brianharwell/npm:6.9.0-1709 .

docker build --build-arg winver=1803 -t brianharwell/npm:6.9.0-1803 .

⁠What is this image for

This image is used to build applications that use node and npm. An example would be an Angular or React application. This image would be used to build the artifacts and then the artifacts can be copied to another image for runtime (if desired).

docker container run --rm brianharwell/npm:6.9.0-1709 npm.cmd -version
