bschmalb/macos-flutter-ci repository overview

macOS Docker Image with Homebrew, Node.js, Firebase Utils, and Flutter

macOS Docker Image

This Docker image provides a macOS environment within a container, complete with essential development tools and utilities. It's ideal for developers who need access to macOS-specific software and tools without having to own a Mac. This image comes pre-installed with Homebrew, Node.js, npm, Firebase Utils, and Flutter, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of macOS-based development tasks. It is based on the amazing macos image sickcodes/docker-osx from Sick. Codes which does most of the work.

Features

  • macOS Environment: Experience a macOS-like environment within a Docker container, allowing you to run macOS-specific software and tools on any platform.

  • Homebrew: The package manager for macOS that allows you to easily install and manage software packages, libraries, and development tools.

  • Node.js and npm: Get access to the popular JavaScript runtime and package manager, making it easy to develop and run JavaScript applications.

  • Firebase Utils: Firebase is a powerful platform for building mobile and web applications. This is used to distribute the build versions via Firebase app distribution.

  • Flutter: A popular open-source framework for building natively compiled applications for mobile, web, and desktop from a single codebase.

Requirements

  • virtualization should be enabled in your BIOS settings
  • a x86_64 kvm-capable host
  • at least 50 GBs (half for the base image, half for your runtime image)

Usage

To run a Docker container based on this image, you can use the following command:

docker run -it --device /dev/kvm -p 50922:10022 bschmalb/macos-flutter-ci:auto

The initial launch will take 2-3 minutes until the macos shell starts.

Additional Information Docker Hub: macos-docker Please note that this image is for development and testing purposes only. It does not replace a physical Mac for all use cases, and the performance may not match that of a native Mac. However, it provides a convenient way to access macOS tools and environments on non-Mac systems.

Disclaimer: This Docker image is not officially provided or endorsed by Apple Inc. It is a community-supported project intended for development and testing.
