⁠Introduction

This Docker Image provides the GeoWebCache in version 1.20.1 on Tomcat 9 and the OpenJDK Runtime 11

GeoWebCache is a Java web application used to cache map tiles coming from a variety of sources such as OGC Web Map Service (WMS). It implements various service interfaces (such as WMS-C, WMTS, TMS, Google Maps KML, Virtual Earth) in order to accelerate and optimize map image delivery. It can also recombine tiles to work with regular WMS clients.

⁠Prerequisities

In order to run this container you'll need docker installed.

• OS X⁠
• Linux⁠

⁠Usage

⁠Getting Started

1. Create a data folder for the docker instance (example: /geowebcache/data)
2. Create a configuration folder for the docker instance (example: /geowebcache/conf)
3. Create or Copy the file users.properties in th folder configuration (example: /geowebcache/conf/users.properties)

⁠Container Parameters

docker run 
-v ~/geowebcache/data:/opt/tomcat/geowebcache/data 
-v ~/geowebcache/users.properties:/opt/tomcat/geowebcache/webapps/WEB-INF/users.properties 
-p 8080:8080 geowebcache 

⁠Volumes

• /opt/tomcat/geowebcache/data

• GEOWEBCACHE_CACHE_DIR: The location of the configuration file, geowebcache.xml, will be defined by the GEOWEBCACHE_CACHE_DIR application argument.

• /opt/tomcat/geowebcache/webapps/WEB-INF/users.properties

• GeoWebCache requires authentication to perform certain operations, such as reconfiguration or seeding.

By default WEB-INF\users.properties looks like this:

geowebcache=secured,ROLE_ADMINISTRATOR
