chipublic/composer repository overview

Basic docker image for projects using PHP and Composer. Based on php:8.3-fpm-alpine image.

⁠Runtime dependencies (in the image)

• netcat-openbsd: for checking database availability at entrypoint
• icu-libs: for the intl extension
• libpng, libjpeg-turbo, freetype: for the gd extension
• libzip: for the zip extension
• oniguruma: for the mbstring extension
• git: needed for Composer (installing packages from git repositories)

NOTE: unzip is intentionally NOT installed due to vulnerability CVE-2008-0888. Composer uses the PHP zip extension as a fallback (it is already installed). There will be a warning during the build, but functionality will not be affected.

⁠PHP extensions:

• pdo_mysql: working with MySQL/MariaDB
• mbstring: multibyte strings (needed for Laravel)
• zip: working with ZIP archives (uses Composer instead of unzip)
• intl: internationalization
• gd: working with images (with FreeType and JPEG support)
• opcache: PHP bytecode caching
