⁠GEWIS Legacy Server Docker Emulation Environment (GLSDEE)

To replace the old GEWIS server PHP environment, this Docker container was created. It runs the same PHP version and modules as the old environment did. It is intended to be used after the new Nginx proxy on web.gewis.nl to provide an environment to run legacy programs in that cannot be ported to newer versions.

⁠Usage instructions

It exposes an Apache2 server on port 80, with the document root at /var/www/html. Bind your directory to /var/www/html with index.php as an index file.

⁠Using SWS

When using the image with the sws tag, a stub for the SWS framework will be automatically included in every PHP file. It uses the GEWIS-MemberID, GEWIS-MemberName, GEWIS-MemberEmail and GEWIS-MemberGroups (comma seperated) headers to determine the logged in user. Then, the normal verifyTicket(), userId(), userName(), userEmail() and userGroups() will continue to work, but only for the currently authenticated user. An example of this can be found in the christiaangoossens/gewis_auth_test container.

You can also set the SWS_DB_TYPE (either mysql or postgresql), SWS_DB_HOST, SWS_DB_NAME, SWS_DB_USER and SWS_DB_PASSWORD environment variables to supply your database details to emulate the original SWS configuration files.

The following features of SWS have been removed or disabled:

• All themes except new and bac.
• All blocks except contact, saldo and gewislogo
• All configuration files, instead replaced by environment variables
• The SWS database, topics will now be read from menu_config.php in your main directory, which exposes an array with url => title.
• 'Organen'-functions: getOrganen to getLedenOfOrgaanWithoutFunctie.
• Login pages of SWS, instead using the headers
• SWS session handlers, instead using the normal PHP handlers
• Birthdays in the themes
