cloudlookup/openclaw repository overview

OpenClaw Gateway - Pre-built Docker Image

This repository provides a pre-built, community-maintained Docker image for the OpenClaw Gateway, the AI-powered assistant platform. The image is automatically built from the latest commit of the official OpenClaw GitHub repository.

This image includes all necessary metadata (EXPOSE, VOLUME, ENV) baked in, making it easy to run and manage through Docker GUIs like Synology Container Manager, Portainer, or the command line.

Quick Start

To get started, run the following command. This will pull the latest image, create the necessary volumes, and start the gateway.

docker run -d --name openclaw-gateway \
  -p 18789:18789 \
  -p 18790:18790 \
  -e OPENCLAW_GATEWAY_TOKEN="YOUR_SECRET_TOKEN_HERE" \
  -e ANTHROPIC_API_KEY="sk-ant-YOUR_ANTHROPIC_KEY_HERE" \
  -v openclaw-config:/home/node/.openclaw \
  -v openclaw-workspace:/home/node/.openclaw/workspace \
  cloudlookup/openclaw:latest

After running the command, the gateway will be accessible at http://<your-docker-host-ip>:18789.

Required Configuration

You must provide the following environment variables:

  • OPENCLAW_GATEWAY_TOKEN: A unique, secret token for securing your gateway. You can generate one with openssl rand -hex 32.
  • ANTHROPIC_API_KEY: Your API key from Anthropic for Claude access.

Image Configuration Details

This image is configured with the following settings, which will be visible in your Docker management UI.

Port Mappings
Host PortContainer PortService
1878918789/tcpOpenClaw Gateway (WebSocket + HTTP)
1879018790/tcpOpenClaw Bridge
Volume Mappings

Using named volumes is recommended to ensure data persists across container updates.

Host Volume NameContainer PathPurpose
openclaw-config/home/node/.openclawStores persistent configuration, canvas data, and cron jobs.
openclaw-workspace/home/node/.openclaw/workspaceStores workspace files and user-generated content.
Environment Variables

These variables are defined in the image. You can override them at runtime using the -e flag.

VariableDefault ValueDescription
OPENCLAW_GATEWAY_TOKEN"" (empty)Required. Your secret gateway authentication token.
ANTHROPIC_API_KEY"" (empty)Required. Your Anthropic API key.
NODE_ENVproductionSets the Node.js environment to production.
HOME/home/nodeSets the home directory for the node user.
TERMxterm-256colorSets the terminal type for interactive sessions.

Tags

This repository provides two tags:

  • latest: Always points to the most recent successful build from the main branch of the source repository.
  • <version> (e.g., 2026.2.9): A specific version tag, allowing you to pin your deployment to a particular release.

Staying Updated

To update your container to the latest version, run:

# Pull the latest image
docker pull cloudlookup/openclaw:latest

# Stop and remove the old container
docker stop openclaw-gateway
docker rm openclaw-gateway

# Start a new container with the updated image (using the same command as Quick Start)
docker run -d --name openclaw-gateway ...

Because your data is stored in Docker volumes (openclaw-config and openclaw-workspace), it will be automatically picked up by the new container.
