clustermeerkat/peertube-runner repository overview

PeerTube Runner

A lightweight Docker image for the PeerTube Runner — the remote job processor used for PeerTube video transcoding and background tasks. Built on Node 22 LTS with FFmpeg and tini preinstalled. Works out of the box on linux/amd64, linux/arm64, linux/arm/v7, linux/ppc64le, and linux/s390x.

✨ Features

  • Based on node:22-bookworm-slim
  • Includes FFmpeg
  • Proper signal handling via tini

🚀 Quick start

1️⃣ Run the container
docker run -d --name prunner --restart unless-stopped \
  -v ~/peertube-runner-config:/config \
  clustermeerkat/peertube-runner:latest

⚠️ You can replace ~/peertube-runner-config with a path to a directory to store the configuration.

2️⃣ Register the runner
docker exec -it prunner peertube-runner register \
  --url https://<YOUR-PEERTUBE-DOMAIN> \
  --registration-token <YOUR-REGISTRATION-TOKEN> \
  --runner-name <YOUR-RUNNER-NAME>

⚠️ Use your instance’s root URL — no trailing slash and no /api.

3️⃣ Check registered servers
docker exec -it prunner peertube-runner list-registered
4️⃣ View logs
docker logs -f prunner

🧩 docker-compose example

version: "3.8"
services:
  prunner:
    image: clustermeerkat/peertube-runner:latest
    container_name: prunner
    restart: unless-stopped
    volumes:
      - ~/peertube-runner-config:/config

Start it with:

docker compose up -d

🧠 Tips

  • Update image:

docker pull clustermeerkat/peertube-runner:latest && docker restart prunner

  • You can manually edit ~/peertube-runner-config/config.toml to change advanced settings such as job concurrency and ffmpeg threads. Any manual changes are picked up the next time the runner starts.
