⁠cohort-squid

A lightweight Alpine-based Squid⁠ web proxy container for use in GNS3-emulated enterprise network topologies.

Used as the web proxy node in COHORT⁠ — a multi-agent AI framework for autonomous network defense. During experiments, the COHORT agent autonomously deployed and configured this proxy as an emergent mitigation strategy. More information and source material at cohort-experiments-app.streamlit.app⁠.

⁠Details

  • Base image: alpine:latest
  • Proxy port: 3128
  • Allowed sources: all RFC-1918 private ranges (10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16) and localhost
  • DNS: Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)

⁠Usage in GNS3

Add the container to your topology and point client nodes at port 3128. Environment variables for IP and gateway are configured via GNS3 appliance settings.

To test the proxy from a client:

curl -x http://<proxy-ip>:3128 http://example.com
