Chef Server image created to work with my Chef Workstation image (conroy3644/chef-workstation)

⁠How to pull and use

create the volumes:

• docker volume create chef-log
• docker volume create chef-data

pull the image:

• docker pull conroy3644/chef-server

run the server:

• docker run --sysctl net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 --privileged --name chef-server-core -d -v chef-data:/var/opt/opscode -v chef-log:/var/log/opscode -p 80:80 -p 443:443 conroy3644/chef-server

access the server:

• shell into container:
  • docker exec -it chef-server-core bash
• add user:
  • chef-server-ctl user-create USER_NAME FIRST_NAME LAST_NAME EMAIL 'PASSWORD' --filename FILE_NAME
  • organization can be added through GUI, after logging into user
• access GUI by web browser:
  • localhost/login
