⁠Unofficial MinIO server build

An unofficial build of the MinIO server from the unmodified upstream source: github.com/minio/minio⁠, tag RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z.

⁠Why this exists

MinIO stopped publishing container images, and the upstream repository is now archived. This image is built from the tagged source so that existing deployments can still pull the last release.

⁠Important

• No further fixes. RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z is upstream's final release. It includes the fix for GHSA-jjjj-jwhf-8rgr, but nothing after it. Plan accordingly.
• No support and no warranty. Use at your own risk.
• linux/amd64 only.
• There is no latest tag. Pin the release tag.

⁠Usage

docker pull cwvermaak/minio:RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z

  -e MINIO_ROOT_USER=YOUR_USER -e MINIO_ROOT_PASSWORD=YOUR_PASSWORD \
  -v /path/to/data:/data \
  cwvermaak/minio:RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z server /data --console-address ":9001"

The image keeps upstream's contract: the entrypoint is upstream's docker-entrypoint.sh, arguments are passed to minio, data lives in /data, and it runs as any user ID.

⁠How it is built

• git clone --depth 1 --branch RELEASE.2025-10-15T17-29-55Z https://github.com/minio/minio.git
• CGO_ENABLED=0 go build -tags kqueue -trimpath with the version flags from upstream's own buildscripts/gen-ldflags.go, so minio --version reports the release and commit.
• Go 1.24, on an Alpine 3.22 base with ca-certificates and curl.

Differences from upstream's former images: the base is Alpine, not UBI micro, and the mc client is not bundled.

⁠Licence and source

MinIO is licensed under the GNU AGPL v3.0. The corresponding source for this image is exactly that tag of the upstream repository; no changes were made. The licence text and upstream's CREDITS file are in the image under /licenses.
