deewhy/monero_wallet_cli repository overview

# 🪙 deewhy/monero_wallet_cli: Secure Monero Wallet CLI

This repository provides a containerized environment for running the official **Monero Command-Line Wallet (`monero-wallet-cli`)**.

By running the wallet in a container with a persistent volume, your wallet files (`wallets`) are securely isolated and preserved, regardless of the container's lifecycle.

---

## Container Deployment

The recommended way to run this image is using a **named Docker volume** to ensure your wallet files persist across container restarts and upgrades.

1. **Create a Persistent Volume:**
   ```bash
   docker volume create wallets
  1. Run the Wallet Container:
    docker run -d --restart unless-stopped --name xmr-wallet-cli \
      -w /wallets \
      -v wallets:/wallets \
      -it deewhy/monero_wallet_cli
    • --name xmr-wallet-cli: Assigns a helpful name to the running container.
    • -v wallets:/wallets: Mounts the persistent wallets volume to the /wallets directory inside the container, where your wallet files will be stored.
Persistence Note: Your Monero wallets will be securely stored within the persistent Docker volume named wallets.
Wallet Management and Usage
All interactions with the wallet application happen using docker exec to run commands inside the running container (xmr-wallet-cli).
If you are not running your own full Monero node, you can connect to a trusted public node using the --trusted-daemon flag. This avoids syncing the entire blockchain.
docker exec -it xmr-wallet-cli /cli/monero-wallet-cli \
  --daemon-address xmr.support:18081 \
  --trusted-daemon
2. Restoring an Existing Wallet
To restore a wallet using your 25-word mnemonic seed, use the --restore-deterministic-wallet flag:
docker exec -it xmr-wallet-cli /cli/monero-wallet-cli \
  --restore-deterministic-wallet \
  --daemon-address xmr.support:18081 \
  --trusted-daemon
3. Utility Commands
You can verify files and folders inside the container:
CommandDescription
docker exec -it xmr-wallet-cli ls /cliLists the main application files (e.g., monero-wallet-cli).
docker exec -it xmr-wallet-cli ls /walletsLists your stored wallet files in the persistent volume.
