This image runs the NERD application (https://gitlab.gwdg.de/lovre.bogdanic/nerd/) in a docker container.
The current image is based on Ubuntu. NERD is a graphical application, and to use it inside the container, the best option is VNC.
The container is running fluxbox and a VNC server on port 5900, so the best way to use NERD is:
First pull the container, so that you have it available locally, if not done already:
sudo docker pull dfspspirit/nerd:latest
To run the container:
sudo docker run --name nerd-vnc -p 5900:5900 nerd-vnc
You can then connect with a VNC client (TigerVNC or RealVNC) to localhost:5900, with to interact with the GUI app.
sudo apt install tigervnc-viewer # Or install and use any other VNC client
vncviewer localhost:5900
When you're done, you may want to stop the docker container:
sudo docker stop nerd-vnc
Note: The examples are for Linux and assume you use sudo to run Docker. Under Windows, or if you are in the docker group under Linux, you should omit the sudo part from the instructions above.
