⁠Apache JMeter Docker Image for Performance Testing

This image is built using Dockerfile located at https://github.com/dhanasekar-siva/jmeter_docker⁠ for running performance tests.

⁠About Dockerfile

  • It uses amazoncorretto:17-alpine as a base image
  • Includes Apache JMeter version 5.6.3 for load testing
  • Able to install required plugins for JMeter by modifying ADDITIONAL_JMETER_PLUGINS argument with required plugins as a comma separated values
  • Optimized image size using multi stage builds
  • Runs jmeter-server.sh at container start

⁠Pre-requisite

Docker must be installed on your system to build and run this image. Use Docker Desktop for Windows/macOS, or Docker Engine for Linux.

⁠Usage

Step1: Pull docker image to local using below command

docker pull dhanasekarsiva/jmeter:v5.6.3

Step2: To run JMeter docker container in detached mode using pulled docker image, run below command

docker run -d --name <containerName> dhanasekarsiva/jmeter:v5.6.3

Step3: To list all containers, run below command

docker ps -a

Step4: Login into docker container using below command

docker exec -it <container_id> /bin/bash

Step5: Execute JMeter test using below command

jmeter -n -t <location_of_jmx> -l <location_of_testResult> -e -o <html_report_directory>
