`\n\n* Create a new A record for an existing domain:\n\n `doctl compute domain records create --record-type A --record-name www --record-data

`\n\n`doctl` also simplifies actions without an API endpoint. For instance, it allows you to SSH to your Droplet by name:\n\n doctl compute ssh \n\nBy default, it assumes you are using the `root` user. If you want to SSH as a specific user, you can do that as well:\n\n doctl compute ssh @\n\n## Building and dependencies\n\n`doctl`'s dependencies are managed by [gvt](https://github.com/FiloSottile/gvt). To add dependencies, use `gvt fetch`.\n\n## Releasing\n\nFirst, make sure the [CHANGELOG](https://github.com/digitalocean/doctl/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md)\ncontains all changes for the version you're going to release.\n\n### Setup\n\nTo release `doctl` you need to install:\n\n* [xgo](https://github.com/karalabe/xgo)\n* [github-release](https://github.com/aktau/github-release)\n\nAnd make them available at your `PATH`. You can use `go get -u` for both of them and add your\n`$GOPATH/bin` to your `PATH` so your scripts will find them.\n\nYou will also need valid `GITHUB_TOKEN` environment variable with access to the `digitalocean/doctl` repo.\n\n### Scripts\n\nTo build `doctl` for all it's platforms run `script/stage.sh major minor patch` \n(ie. `script/stage.sh 1 5 0`). This will place all files and it's checksums \nat `builds/major.minor.patch/release`.\n\nThen mark the release on github with `script/release.sh ` (ie. `script/release.sh 1.5.0`).\n\nThen upload using `script/upload.sh ` to mark it on github.\n\nNow go to [releases](https://github.com/digitalocean/doctl/releases) and update the release\ndescription to contain all changelog entries for this specific release.\n\n## More info\n\n* [Tutorial](https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-doctl-the-official-digitalocean-command-line-client)\n* [doctl Releases](https://github.com/digitalocean/doctl/releases)\n* [windows Release](https://github.com/digitalocean/doctl/releases/download/v1.7.0/doctl-1.7.0-windows-4.0-amd64.zip)\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_76":11,"_77":78},"enabled","rules",[79],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_83":22,"_84":11,"_85":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",11642926,"orgData","recentTags",[92,130],{"_93":45,"_94":95,"_96":97,"_98":99,"_100":101,"_51":119,"_120":95,"_121":34,"_122":57,"_58":123,"_124":125,"_126":110,"_127":119,"_128":67,"_129":22},"content_type","creator",852975,"full_size",6802575,"id",15474551,"images",[102],{"_103":104,"_105":106,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_113":114,"_115":108,"_116":-5,"_117":97,"_64":67,"_118":-5},"architecture","amd64","digest","sha256:ec06205d1d0d83fd23fe0b100ab45157e3a8a62871cb3e00273bc114c71f4f54","features","","last_pulled","2026-10-20T11:02:28.250962956Z","last_pushed","2017-09-19T16:41:49Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2017-09-19T16:41:48.670774Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",1834064,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2",{"_93":45,"_94":95,"_96":131,"_98":132,"_100":133,"_51":138,"_120":95,"_121":34,"_122":57,"_58":139,"_124":125,"_126":136,"_127":138,"_128":67,"_129":22},6802577,15474387,[134],{"_103":104,"_105":135,"_107":108,"_109":136,"_111":137,"_113":114,"_115":108,"_116":-5,"_117":131,"_64":67,"_118":-5},"sha256:d76243d172e7811febc9d3680bf112d07c64e9c3df5494787f1c274bbd624243","2026-10-20T11:02:31.043411593Z","2017-09-19T16:38:43Z","2017-09-19T16:38:42.250112Z","v1.7.0","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxRunInCloud","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_39":154,"_161":162,"_148":175,"_176":11},{"_41":155,"_43":156,"_46":47,"_48":49,"_50":11,"_51":52,"_53":54,"_55":157,"_58":36,"_33":34,"_59":60,"_61":45,"_62":63,"_64":65,"_66":67,"_68":-5,"_69":63,"_70":71,"_72":11,"_73":34,"_74":158,"_80":22,"_81":160,"_86":34,"_87":88},[],[45],[57],{"_76":11,"_77":159},[79],{"_83":22,"_84":11,"_85":11},"tags",{"_163":164,"_165":-5,"_166":-5,"_167":168},"count",2,"next","previous","results",[169,172],{"_93":45,"_94":95,"_96":97,"_98":99,"_100":170,"_51":119,"_120":95,"_121":34,"_122":57,"_58":123,"_124":125,"_126":110,"_127":119,"_128":67,"_129":22},[171],{"_103":104,"_105":106,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_113":114,"_115":108,"_116":-5,"_117":97,"_64":67,"_118":-5},{"_93":45,"_94":95,"_96":131,"_98":132,"_100":173,"_51":138,"_120":95,"_121":34,"_122":57,"_58":139,"_124":125,"_126":136,"_127":138,"_128":67,"_129":22},[174],{"_103":104,"_105":135,"_107":108,"_109":136,"_111":137,"_113":114,"_115":108,"_116":-5,"_117":131,"_64":67,"_118":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
