dnhsoft/phpmyadmin repository overview

What is PhpMyAdmin?

Bring an easy interface to your MySQL databases, running on docker. You can find all the relevant info here, in the official PhpMyAdmin page.

How to use this image?

The image does not provide a MySQL server itself. It needs a running instance of MySQL accessible by a host name. You need to fill in the following environment variables in order to make the PMA running:

  • DBHOST (defaults to "db")
  • DBUSER (defaults to "admin")
  • DBPASS (defaults to "123456")
  • DBUSECOOKIE (defaults to empty string)

Using PhpMyAdmin without login

Here is the examples of how to use the image with docker-compose: docker-compose.yml. Simply open your browser to localhost:8001 and you'll have the PhpMyAdmin working. A simpler example with default arguments can be found here: docker-compose.yml.

##Using PhpMyAdmin with login Here is the examples of how to use the image with docker-compose: docker-compose.yml. Simply open your browser to localhost:8001 and you'll have the PhpMyAdmin asking for login credentials.

Troubleshooting

Connecting to older MySQL databases.

You may want use an older version of PhpMyAdmin, e.g. 4.0.0, to connect to MySQL 5.1. Then you may have the error "#1273 - Unknown collation: 'utf8mb4_unicode_ci'". This is most probably because you have previously used localhost:8001 with later PMA versions (supporting MySQL 5.5 and above). PMA saves the collation in a cookie - you need to delete the cookie named pma_collation_connection and the problem will be fixed.
