⁠Foundational Development Tools Base Image (L0)

A foundational container image based on Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble), equipped with a comprehensive set of common development tools. This image serves as a stable and secure "Layer 0" for building various language-specific development environments.

⁠Key Features

• Reproducible Builds: The base Ubuntu image is pinned via sha256 digest for absolute build consistency.
• Secure by Default: Runs as a dedicated, non-root ubuntu user with passwordless sudo access for convenient, intentional administration.
• UTF-8 Ready: The default locale is set to en_US.UTF-8 to prevent character encoding issues.
• Common Tools Included:
  • Build Toolchain: build-essential (provides make, g++, etc.), cmake, pkg-config
  • Version Control: git
  • Utilities: curl, wget, vim, unzip, sudo, and more.

⁠Available Tags

This image follows Semantic Versioning (MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH).

⁠Usage

This image is primarily intended to be used as a base in other Dockerfiles.

Example Dockerfile:

To inspect the image directly:
