This repository is deprecated as the crystal org now provides alpine-based docker images: https://hub.docker.com/r/crystallang/crystal/tags⁠

You can statically compile a crystal program as follows, where test.cr is a file in the current directory:

docker run --rm -it -v $PWD:/app -w /app durosoft/crystal-alpine:0.25.0 crystal build test.cr -o crystal_function --release --static --no-debug
