ealban/monaco_f1tenth repository overview

Last Updated: 2026-09-19

Competition: IROS 2026

Phase: 2 - Final Race

Monaco F1TENTH Competition Container - Distributed Setup

Run the Monaco F1TENTH autonomous racing competitor container against a remote AutoDRIVE simulator on different machines.

MonacoF1 Distributed - IROS 2026

Prerequisites

  • Docker installed on both machines
  • NVIDIA GPU on simulator machine (with docker GPU support)
  • Both machines on same network
  • Simulator image: autodriveecosystem/autodrive_roboracer_sim:2026-iros-compete
  • Competitor image: ealban/monaco_f1tenth:2026-iros-compete

Note: Docker will automatically download the images on first run if they're not already present locally. For faster subsequent runs, images are cached.

SIM Host Setup

Step 1: Enable X11 Access
xhost +local:docker
Step 2: Run Simulator Container
docker run \
  --name autodrive_sim \
  -it \
  --privileged \
  --network host \
  --gpus all \
  -e AUTODRIVE_API_HOSTNAME=0.0.0.0 \
  -e ENABLE_RT_SCHEDULING=true \
  -e DISPLAY=$DISPLAY \
  -e NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES=all \
  -e NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=all \
  -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix:rw \
  -v ~/.Xauthority:/root/.Xauthority:rw \
  autodriveecosystem/autodrive_roboracer_sim:2026-iros-compete \
  -c "chrt -f 99 ./\"AutoDRIVE Simulator.x86_64\" -ip 0.0.0.0 -port 4567"

Dev Host Setup

Step 3: Run Competitor Container
docker run \
  --name autodrive_competitor \
  -it \
  --network host \
  --ipc host \
  -e AUTODRIVE_VEHICLE_ID=monacof1 \
  -e ROS_DOMAIN_ID=0 \
  -e ROS_LOCALHOST_ONLY=0 \
  -e AUTODRIVE_SIM_IP=192.168.100.21 \
  -e AUTODRIVE_SIM_PORT=4567 \
  ealban/monaco_f1tenth:2026-iros-compete

Note: Modify AUTODRIVE_SIM_IP=192.168.100.21 to the actual simulator machine's IP address.

SIM Host - Final Configuration

Step 4: Configure Simulator GUI
  1. Wait for simulator GUI to load
  2. Modify IP Address in GUI Sim → Insert actual dev host IP (e.g., 192.168.100.44)
  3. Hit Connection Button
  4. Wait for Connected Status

Monitoring & Debugging (Optional)

Open a Bash Terminal in Running Container

In SIM Host (in a new terminal):

docker exec -it autodrive_sim bash

In Dev Host (in a new terminal):

docker exec -it autodrive_competitor bash

Cleanup

SIM Host

Before starting the launching or once finished with the race:

docker stop autodrive_sim
docker rm autodrive_sim
Dev Host

Before starting the launching or once finished with the race:

docker stop autodrive_competitor
docker rm autodrive_competitor
