⁠UV-R-CUDA Docker Image

A lightweight Docker image for the flexible use of R and python with cuda drivers permitting GPU acceleration.

Built on top of nvidia/cuda:12.4.1-cudnn-runtime-ubuntu22.04 base image.

⁠🐳 Pull the latest image

docker pull ehvr20/uv-r-cuda:0.3

⁠🐳 Build the image

docker build --progress=plain --platform linux/amd64 -t uv-r-cuda:0.3 .

⁠Image Components

The following binaries are available:

• R /usr/bin/R [renv + IRkernel]
• uv /opt/uv/bin/uv
• pixi /opt/pixi/bin/pixi

All /opt binaries are symlinked to /usr/local/bin

⁠Setting up R

library('renv')
renv::init()
# This will create renv/library, renv.lock and .Rprofile

Add required packages on local system to the renv to match image environment.

⁠Setting up python

uv init --python 3.12 --bare
uv sync [--all-extras]

Add required packages on local system to the venv via uv to match image environment.
