The DS-Client software is a key component of Asigra's agentless cloud backup and recovery solution.

The DS-Client is responsible for defining the backup sets that determine what data is to be backed up from the source computers and for sending the backed up data to the DS-System for storage.
During the backup process, the DS-Client extracts, compresses, and encrypts the data. Only new or modified data is backed up, which accelerates the backup transmission time. Backup data is sent to a secure off-site data center that hosts the DS-System vault. Restore is performed on demand via the same DS-Client.
Ease of use comes from the agentless architecture, which allows you to install a DS-Client on only one LAN computer. As long as the DS-Client is on the same network as the source computers, you can back up and restore data as required.
DS-Client Docker containers can use a separate a volume for database and configuration files, which can be mapped as a persistent volume to preserve the configuration across rebuilds.
You can create a Docker volume on the host machine using the following command:
docker volume create <volume>
Where
For example:
docker volume create dsclient
You can initialize the DS-Client Docker container installation on a host using the following command:
docker run --detach --restart=always --name <Name> --hostname <Name> --env ACCPASSWORD=<Password> --env DSCLANGUAGE=<Language> -p 4403:4403 -v <Volume>:/data ericasigra/dsclient:14.2.0.6
Where:
For example:
docker run --detach --restart=always --name dsclient --hostname dsclient --env ACCPASSWORD=admin --env DSCLANGUAGE=en -p 4403:4403 -v dsclient:/data ericasigra/dsclient:14.2.0.6
After you install the DS-Client Docker container, you can install the DS-User or Management Console on the same local network to access the DS-Client Docker container and configure backup sets.
