• Create N + 1 instances in AWS which N is numbers of slaves node.
• Added a security group as shows here:
  
• Create instances AWS with attachment the security group created before
• Installed latest version of docker. Check here⁠ for installation steps.

⁠Configure Master Node

1. Pull image from registry

docker pull ethantech/jmeter:master

1. Start master container

docker run -dit --name master --network host -e HostIP={public_ip} -e Xms=256m -e Xmx=512m -e MaxMetaspaceSize=512m ethantech/jmeter-master /bin/bash

⁠Configure Slave Nodes

1. Pull image from Registry

docker pull ethantech/jmeter:slave

1. Start container

docker run -dit --name slave --network host -e HostIP={public_ip} -e Xms=256m -e Xmx=512m -e MaxMetaspaceSize=512m ethantech/jmeter-slave /bin/bash

⁠Start Jmeter

jmeter -n -t plan.jmx -Dserver.rmi.ssl.disable=true -R{IP_Slave1} {IP_Slave2} -l ./logfile.jtl

⁠Example (for testing)

⁠No slaves

docker run -it --rm --name master \
-e SLACK_TOKEN={slack_token} \

⁠Notes

• Xms: Minimum heap size. This is the value JAVA will attempt to claim in order to run JMeter. This does NOT imply that it immediately gets this fully allocated by the OS. The OS typically doesn't give an application all blocks it asks for until really needed.
• Xmx: Maximum heap size. This is the value JAVA will use as a maximum size of the JVM. When JMeter passes this level, an OutOfMemoryError will occur once more.
• MaxMetaspaceSize: The disk size which keeps track of all loaded class metadata and static content
• The Xmx value for a machine which generates the load for your tests can be calculated as following: Total system memory — (memory used by the OS + memory used by the JVM + any other scripts required to run on the machine).
