⁠Locations and Mounts

⁠/backup

Everything in this directory is backed up, and the tarsnap config is saved here (in /backup/.tarsnap/)

⁠/backup/.tarsnap/tarsnap.key

REQUIRED - the tarsnap key file for this system Usually mounted from Kubernetes

⁠/backup/.tarsnap/tarsnap.conf

OPTIONAL - tarsnap config file, a default will be generted if one is not present

⁠/root/.msmtprc

OPTIONAL - For msmtp⁠. A default will be generated if the files does not exist

⁠Environment Variables

⁠TARSNAP_HOSTNAME

Hostname used in the tarsnap archive name (and email subject if emails are enabled)

⁠TARSNAP_EMAIL_HOST

REQUIRED - The mailhub mSMTP will attempt to connect to. Must be a bare hostname (no port). If missing, emails will not be sent

⁠TARSNAP_EMAIL_PORT

OPTIONAL - Port of the mail server to talk to. Default to 587 if not set.

⁠TARSNAP_EMAIL_FROM

OPTIONAL - the plain from address for the email. One will be generted if this is not supplied.

⁠TARSNAP_EMAIL_TO

REQUIRED - the plain email address the mail will be sent to. If missing, emails will not be sent

⁠TARSNAP_EMAIL_CERTCHECK

OPTIONAL - "on" or "off" whether to check TLS cert authenticity. Defaults to "on" if not set.
