⁠1. Add secrets to AWS System Manager⁠

  • pick one
• BugsnagApiKey
  • shown in Bugsnag settings⁠
• CodecovToken
  • create API token on in Codecov⁠
• DbPassword
  • pick one
• DbUser
  • pick one
• Environment
  • set to development
• GitHubOAuthToken
  • create a personal access token⁠ in Github as filmhubhq. Name it WebPipeline-[your-AWS-user]
• KeyName
  • create in EC2 console⁠
• SecretKeyBase
  • create with bin/rails secrets
• SendGridApiKey
  • create one in Sendgrid⁠

⁠2. Create permissions

Your user needs permissions to deploy:

• PowerUserAccess
• iam:GetRole
• iam:CreateRole
• iam:DeleteRole
• iam:PutRolePolicy
• iam:DeleteRolePolicy
• iam:AttachRolePolicy
• iam:DetachRolePolicy

Lock your account with MFA. Authy⁠ is a great app for that.

⁠3. Create basics stack⁠

In AWS CloudFormation console⁠, create a basics-development stack using these parameters:

• DeployBranch: use your staging branch, for example staging-kb
• WebStackName: use development (while others should work, dependency issues of other scripts is not tested yet)

Add tags:

• environment: development
• project: filmhub
• app: basics

Acknowledge creation of IAM resources, then create. Note the DeployBucketName on the output tab, you'll need it in step 4.
