Two versions (aka tags) of the container exist:

• latest: dynamically compiled, against Ubuntu 18.04
• static: statically compiled (Ubuntu 18.04), works on any distro, just copy and paste the files from the container, or use the container as is.

The motivation for the statically compiled version is because the version in kali doesn't work anymore due to a change in a library. So, the workaround is to use an older distribution to compile it.

Both versions are tested to work before being pushed here.

As of why would you want to extract the files from the static container:

• Convenience, and/or you don't need to install docker on the system.
• Using docker is not easy if you're not familiar with it, and there is a bit of learning
• Asleap allows to pipe a wordlist to it, it's a bit tricky if you don't know how to use it. Basically cat wordlist | sudo docker run -i finchsec/asleap /usr/bin/asleap -W - (other parameters)
