Firely Server Ingest (FSI) is a CLI application by Firely, designed to optimize massive resource ingestion into a Firely Server⁠ instance. In contrast to resource ingestion by sending HTTP requests to a running Firely Server instance, FSI writes data directly to the underlying Firely Server database (SQL Server or MongoDB), which increases the throughput significantly.

FSI is licensed separately from the core Firely Server distribution. You can download an evaluation license file from the fire.ly⁠ website. Save this file to your working directory. You can provide the license to FSI in the same two ways as Firely Server: by mounting the file into the container, or by providing its contents as a single string in an environment variable.

Open your favorite command line tool, navigate to your working directory containing the license file and the NDJSON files to import, and type a command such as:

$ docker run --rm -v ${PWD}/firelyserver-license.json:/app/firelyserver-license.json -v ${PWD}/data:/app/data firely/fsi -f R4 -s /app/data --license /app/firelyserver-license.json --dbType SQL -c "<your SQL Server connection string>"

This mounts the license file and a local data directory containing the NDJSON files to import into the container, and runs FSI against a SQL Server target. To target MongoDB instead, replace --dbType SQL -c "..." with --dbType MongoDb --mongoConnectionstring "<connection string>" --mongoCollection vonkentries.
